What do Gustaaf Peek, Maartje Wortel and Huub van der Lubbe have in common? They live in Amsterdam East. The neighborhood that became known for the work of Bloem (Dapperstraat), Nescio (Oosterpark) and Gerard Reve (Betondorp) is fast becoming the literary epicenter of the Netherlands. Last year, the initiative 'Schrijvers uit Oost' started, with new stories, interviews and discussions about the district. These contributions were bundled for the first time in East.
