No Black Friday discounts in our house

Black Friday has become one of the biggest shopping moments of the year. But for us as a fair fashion & lifestyle store, it’s not a celebration, it’s a confrontation! A reminder of the environmental impact of impulse buying, of overconsumption, and of the short life cycle of things we don’t truly need.

That’s why we choose not to participate in the Black Friday discount race. Instead, we invite you to pause and reflect.

Black Friday often encourages quick decisions and unnecessary purchases. According to several environmental organizations, up to 80% of items bought on Black Friday are thrown away after only a few uses. This isn’t just wasteful, it’s harmful.

Overconsumption leads to more CO₂ emissions from production and shipping, increased packaging waste, higher return rates and items ending up in landfills or incinerators within months.

The planet pays for the bargains we chase.

To help you avoid impulse buying, we encourage you to reflect before clicking add to cart. Ask yourself five question:

  1. Do I already own something similar?
  2. How often will I truly use this?
  3. Will it last a long time?
  4. Was it made sustainably and ethically?
  5. Can I borrow it from someone?

If a purchase doesn’t hold up under these questions, maybe it isn’t meant to be.

We see a growing shift: more Dutch consumers are prioritising sustainability. Choosing eco-friendly options like carbon-neutral shipping, recycled materials, or ethically made products is becoming just as important as convenience.

But the greenest choice of all?

Buying less.
Reducing consumption altogether has a far greater impact than any sustainable material or delivery method.

Instead of impulse buying, we believe in a mindset that centres around the Eco R’s:

💚Reuse 💚 Repair 💚Reduce 💚Recycle 💚 Rethink 💚Repurpose 💚Reflect

In countries like the Netherlands, many of us already have more than we need. By choosing not to buy something new, we save resources, reduce waste, and lighten our environmental impact, without sacrificing style or quality.

So yes: sorry, not sorry but there are no Black Friday deals in our house.
No rush, no pressure, no “today only” tricks.

Instead, we choose: transparency, durability, fair production, conscious choice and meaningful consumption

We invite you to join us by resisting the temptation to buy “crap” just because it’s cheap and instead choosing only what holds true value.
