In “Let’s talk…” we explain the differences between the materials, products and product categories you can find in our store versus in “mainstream” stores. Because which options are more sustainable? And what makes these options the fair choice? In this post: Let’s talk denim!
DENIM IN FAST FASHION
WATER POLLUTION
Most jeans are washed extensively with chemicals to give them a rugged look. Copious amounts of water are used to rinse them, and this chemically contaminated water is dumped into nearby rivers, turning them bright blue and destroying the soil around it.

DENIM IN FAIR FASHION
PRODUCTION
All of our brands have a 100% transparent supply chain. This way they can guarantee safe and fair working conditions for all workers involved.
WATER USE
From growing the cotton to the dyeing and washing of the fabric a lot of water is used. The production of regular jeans can take up to 7000 litres per pair. For a big part of our collection (Kings Of Indigo), only 32 litres of water is used per pair.
NON-TOXIC DYEING
To give denim its beautiful blue colour, often a cheap synthetic dye is used. This type of dye contains many toxins that can be absorbed by your skin. In our collection, you can only find jeans coloured with non-toxic dye.

DENIM IN HET FAIRE OOSTEN
The two most prominent brands in our denim collection are Kings Of Indigo and ARMEDANGELS. Both brands manage to produce a variety of jeans styles using mostly organic cotton and recycled cotton.
