Fashion Revolution Week

Fashion Revolution Week is an annual event that takes place during the last week of April, the memorial day of the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh in 2013. This tragic incident took the lives of 1,138 people and drew worldwide attention to the harmful effects of the fashion industry. In response to this tragedy, Fashion Revolution was born, an organization committed to transparency, sustainability and ethical practices in the fashion industry.

Campaigns

Fashion Revolution Week is a global campaign that aims to draw attention to unethical and unsustainable practices in the fashion industry. The week-long event includes a series of events, workshops and initiatives aimed at creating awareness and starting a conversation about the impact of fast fashion on people and the planet. The theme for Fashion Revolution Week 2023 is “Re-Gen,” which focuses on the need to regenerate the fashion industry to create a more sustainable and ethical future.

#whomademychlothes

The hashtag #whomademyclothes is a campaign launched by Fashion Revolution in 2013 to make consumers aware of the people behind their clothes and to encourage brands to be more transparent about their production processes. When you buy a garment from People Tree, you know it was made by people who were paid and treated fairly. By choosing brands committed to sustainability and fair trade, you can make a difference and take the fashion industry a step in the right direction.

People Tree is a great brand committed to sustainability and fair trade. The brand is a pioneer in the ethical fashion industry and works with artisans and farmers in developing countries to promote fair trade. With us, you can find some of People Tree’s products, including clothing and accessories made using sustainable and eco-friendly materials.

TRANSPARENCY AND EDUCATION DURING FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK

Fashion Revolution Week is a comprehensive campaign featuring a series of events and initiatives to educate consumers about the social and environmental impacts of fast fashion. These events include workshops, panel discussions and film screenings, all designed to encourage consumers to choose sustainable and ethical clothing. Another key component of the campaign is the annual Fashion Transparency Index, which ranks 250 of the world’s largest fashion brands based on their level of transparency about their human rights, labour rights and environmental impact policies and practices. The index provides consumers with valuable information to make informed decisions about which brands to support. Ultimately, Fashion Revolution Week reminds us that all eyes are on us and the choices we make can have a significant impact on the fashion industry and the world around us.

The True Cost

The True Cost is a documentary that highlights the dark sides of the fashion industry. It examines the impact of fast fashion on the environment, workers and consumers, and puts the onus on consumers to make more conscious choices. It shows how the drive for cheap clothing leads to the exploitation of workers in developing countries, environmental pollution and overconsumption of clothing. The True Cost is a wake-up call for the fashion industry and encourages consumers to choose sustainable and fair fashion, rather than succumb to the lure of cheap fast fashion.

Our Campaign

At The Faire Oosten, we support Fashion Revolution Week and we feel it is important to contribute to it with our special promotion. We want to show people what a garment really costs and how these costs are often hidden in the price we pay in the store.

We chose T-shirts because this is a garment that many people wear every day and whose production is often not transparent. On the T-shirts, we show an overview of the costs involved in producing a T-shirt, such as raw materials, transportation, labor costs and the manufacturer’s profit margin.

We would also like to link to the documentary “The True Cost,” which critically examines the impact of the fashion industry on people and the environment. We will recommend this documentary to our customers and make it available in our store and online channels. This will help people understand the true cost of the clothes they wear and their effect on the world around us.

We hope our action will make consumers more aware of the impact of their clothing choices. By choosing sustainable and fair clothing, we can all contribute to a better world for everyone.

Good Clothes Fair Pay

Good clothing at a fair price is an important issue that has received increasing attention in recent years. Many people have become aware of the problems in the garment industry, such as poor working conditions, low wages and lack of unions. As consumers, we have the power to demand change and ensure better working conditions and fair wages for the people who make our clothes.

An important initiative in this area is the Good Clothes Fair Pay petition, which advocates for better working conditions and fair wages for those in the garment industry. The petition calls for a change in the way we as a society deal with clothing production and consumption. By signing this petition, you show that you are willing to make your voice heard and fight for a fairer and more sustainable garment industry.

So what are you waiting for? Sign the petition here and contribute to a better future for the garment industry. Show that you care about the people behind your clothes and that you are willing to fight for fairness and justice. Together we can make a difference!
