The month of May is all about plastic with ‘Mei Plasticvrij’. Or rather, a life without plastic. You may think “I’ll never be able to do that!”, but living a plastic-free life is actually easier than you think. With small adjustments, you can already make a big difference. We list 5 great brands that combat plastic pollution for you. Brands that make products from littering plastic or combat plastic pollution with sustainable products. And so you will see that using less plastic is quite easy!


With at least 130 rainy days per year, a good raincoat is an absolute must-have in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam brand MAIUM helps you through the countless downpours in a sustainable way. The raincoats are made from recycled plastic. One raincoat contains 66 plastic bottles. By 2021, they will recycle more than a million (yes 1,000,000!) plastic bottles in their raincoats.

Parafina glasses are entirely made from recycled materials: bamboo, aluminium, cork, plastic or even tire. They’ve already recycled 3.541.206 plastic bottles and 244.000 cork bottles by creating their sunglasses. Their other big impact is that they allocate 5% of the sales of each pair of glasses to the schooling of girls and boys in Paraguay.
