January is a moment to slow down. After the rush of the festive season, it offers space to reflect on our habits and the choices we make every day. What supports your wellbeing? What feels aligned with your values? And how can small, conscious decisions contribute to a healthier planet?
At Het Faire Oosten, we see Veganuary as an invitation rather than a rule. We see January as a natural time to explore more plant-based choices, and rethink routines in a way that feels accessible and meaningful.
Whether it’s eating more plant-based meals, choosing cruelty-free personal care, or wearing fashion made without animal-derived materials, Veganuary invites us to experiment with a more animal-friendly lifestyle at our own pace.
In this blog, we reflect on why Veganuary resonates with so many people and how we curate conscious, vegan-friendly products that make it easier to integrate thoughtful choices into everyday life.
VEGANUARY and why people take part
At Het Faire Oosten, we’re focusing on Veganuary this month. We see it as an invitation. A moment to explore plant-based choices, to question routines, and to discover what feels right for you.
Everyone joins for their own reasons.
For animals, choosing plant-based meals is a way to step back from systems that often place efficiency above wellbeing. Even small shifts can reduce demand for animal farming and reflect a more compassionate way of living.
For the planet, research increasingly shows the strong connection between our food choices and environmental impact. Plant-based foods generally require less land, water and energy than animal products, and have a significantly lower climate footprint. Eating more plants is one of the most tangible ways to reduce pressure on ecosystems, forests and oceans.
For health, many people use Veganuary as a moment to check in with their body. Studies suggest that diets rich in plant foods are linked to lower risks of chronic diseases, while participants often report short-term benefits such as improved digestion, better sleep or more energy.
What matters most is that every step counts. Whether it’s one meal, one week or a full month, exploring plant-based choices can be a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
Slow down with us
Every step towards eating fewer animal products has a positive impact. Whether that’s one meal a week or a full month of experimenting, it all counts. Veganuary isn’t meant to feel restrictive or heavy. It can be creative, enjoyable and fun. Trying new flavours, discovering new recipes, and rethinking familiar dishes often opens up a whole new way of eating.
This January, we invite you to slow down with us. To reflect on your habits. To explore plant-based choices at your own pace. To choose what fits your life, your health and your values.
You’re always welcome at Het Faire Oosten to explore, ask questions and get inspired.
Making plant-based choices easier, also in our store
At Het Faire Oosten, we believe that conscious choices become sustainable habits when they are accessible, inspiring and enjoyable. That’s why Veganuary doesn’t stop at the plate for us.
Part of our community already lives fully vegan. Others are simply curious, experimenting, or looking for small ways to reduce their impact. Our role is not to tell anyone how to live, but to make more animal-friendly choices visible and easy to integrate into everyday life.
This January (and beyond), we’re putting our vegan heroes in the spotlight, sharing the positive impact they’re making and the stories behind their choices.
- Plant-based and vegan cookbooks that make cooking without animal products creative, comforting and doable

- Vegan personal care, such as soaps and skincare made without animal-derived ingredients and never tested on animals

- Fashion and accessories brands that consciously avoid leather, wool, silk or other animal-based materials, and instead work with innovative, responsible alternatives

By curating these choices side by side, we hope to lower the threshold for trying something new. Because moving towards a more animal-friendly lifestyle doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once. It can start with a book, a new routine in the bathroom, or a thoughtfully chosen garment you’ll wear for years.
